Third-Party Code Policy

Effective starting: 01 January, 2025

The following policies supplement the Dotwork Customer Agreement and govern specific aspects of the relationship between Dotwork and Customer. Dotwork’s Products may contain third-party code and libraries licensed under open source or commercial licenses.

1. Open Source Software in the Products

Dotwork’s Products may include third-party technologies governed by separate open source or source-available licenses. These licenses define how Customer may use, modify, distribute, and create derivative works. Where applicable, Dotwork provides attribution for any Open Source Software (OSS) included in a Product in accordance with the respective licenses.

For Open Source Software subject to licenses that grant Customer the right to request source code, if Dotwork has not provided it, Customer may submit a request to legal@dotwork.com.

The request must include the name of the Open Source Software, the product name and order date, the Customer entity name (if applicable), the name of the requester, and a return mailing address and email. Dotwork may charge a reasonable fee to cover the cost of physical media and processing.

2. Combining the Products with Other Software

Unless expressly permitted under the Modifications section of the Agreement, Customer must not combine or distribute Dotwork’s Products with other software, including Open Source Software, in a way that would require the combined software to be open-sourced or mandate that it be made available in source code form.

Customer must not grant third parties any rights that could impact Dotwork’s intellectual property or proprietary rights in the Products.

3. Commercial Third-Party Code in the Products

Dotwork’s Products may also include third-party components licensed commercially (“Commercial Components”).

Customer may use Commercial Components only within Dotwork’s Products and must follow the restrictions outlined in the Agreement.

Customer may not install, configure, or use any Commercial Component separately from Dotwork’s Products. Customer may not modify any Commercial Component, even if provided in source code form.

Commercial Component Licensors retain all ownership and intellectual property rights to their respective components. These third-party licensors do not assume Dotwork’s contractual obligations under the Agreement.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Commercial Component Licensors are not liable to Customer for any damages related to the use of their software.

This refined policy ensures clarity while protecting Dotwork's intellectual property and third-party licensing agreements. Let me know if you’d like further refinements.
