Welcome, Arcario Group. Let's Make the Enterprise Steerable.
Enterprise software has spent decades helping companies manage work. The next generation needs to help them steer the business. Here's why we're bringing Arcario into Dotwork.
By Steve Elliott, Founder & CEO, Dotwork
Today, I'm excited to announce that Dotwork has acquired Arcario Group. Konstantin Popov and his team are joining Dotwork, bringing deep enterprise operating-model expertise and forward-deployed engineering capabilities. Konstantin will lead our Transformation Services organization.
I want to explain why we made this move, because it's much more than adding a services business. It's central to what we're building and where we believe enterprise software is headed.
We've spent decades managing work. It's time to steer the business.
Think about what enterprise software has accomplished over the last 30 years.
We've built systems to manage finances, people, projects, products, services and technology. We've automated workflows, connected teams and created extraordinary amounts of data.
And yet, most CEOs, CFOs, CIOs and COOs still struggle to answer some surprisingly fundamental questions:
- Are we investing in the right things?
- What are those investments actually costing us?
- Are our people, technology and AI agents working on the right priorities?
- Are we delivering the outcomes we expected?
- When conditions change, how quickly can we redirect the organization?
The information exists, but it's fragmented across systems, departments, spreadsheets and presentations. Leaders spend enormous amounts of time reconstructing what's happening instead of deciding what should happen next.
AI makes this problem more urgent.
As AI agents take on more execution, the ability to create work is becoming less of a constraint. The bigger challenge is deciding what work matters, where capital should go, how humans and agents coordinate, and whether the organization is actually creating value.
The next generation of enterprise software won't be defined by how much work it manages or automates. It will be defined by how intelligently it helps organizations allocate capital, direct execution and deliver outcomes.
That's the opportunity we're pursuing at Dotwork.
I've seen this problem before
When I founded AgileCraft, we set out to connect enterprise strategy to the work happening across hundreds of teams.
We made meaningful progress. AgileCraft became Jira Align after Atlassian acquired the company in 2019, helping establish enterprise-scale strategic portfolio management as an important software category.
But that experience also taught me something.
Connecting strategy to work is only part of the problem.
The larger challenge is connecting strategy to capital, business capabilities, technology, execution, actual costs and measurable outcomes. It's understanding not just what's happening, but why decisions were made, what they cost and whether they worked.
And it's changing how the enterprise actually operates.
In large organizations, implementing software is rarely the whole challenge. Companies have established processes, complex financial structures, organizational boundaries and systems that can't simply be replaced.
Successful transformation requires both technology and people who understand how to make it work inside a real enterprise.
That lesson has shaped how we're building Dotwork.
We're building the enterprise steering layer
Dotwork isn't another project management tool, workflow platform or AI dashboard.
We're building an AI-native enterprise operating platform, organized around the decisions that determine business performance.
At its core is a living, graph-based Enterprise Operating Model that connects strategy, capital, people, technology, work and outcomes across the systems companies already use.
Rather than creating another disconnected application, Dotwork connects existing enterprise systems into a shared operating model.
That model is designed to help organizations:
- Connect strategy to financial reality. Trace strategic priorities through investments, execution, actual spending and business outcomes.
- Preserve institutional decision memory. Understand what was decided, why it was decided, what assumptions were made and whether the expected results materialized.
- Continuously steer performance. Evaluate tradeoffs, redirect resources and adjust execution as business conditions change.
- Give AI meaningful context. Enable AI agents to operate with an understanding of enterprise priorities, constraints, economics and governance.
The goal isn't simply better visibility.
It's moving from periodically planning and reporting on the business to continuously steering it.
But there's an important catch.
A great operating platform doesn't automatically create a great operating model.
That's where Arcario comes in.
Why Arcario
Konstantin and his team understand the challenges of changing how large enterprises operate.
They've experienced them from the inside. Konstantin spent years leading PMO work at Chevron before building an enterprise transformation business. His team previously built an operating-model practice that was acquired by Cprime, where they helped deliver complex, large-scale enterprise engagements.
More importantly, they approach these problems the way we do.
Arcario's Connected Enterprise philosophy starts with the business, not the tools. It focuses on aligning people, processes, data and technology around one coherent operating model.
Dotwork provides the platform to make that model living, measurable and continuously adaptable.
We've already worked together on enterprise engagements, and we've seen firsthand how complementary our teams and approaches are.
This isn't about adding consultants to implement software.
It's about bringing the people who understand how enterprises operate directly into the company building the platform for how they'll operate in the future.
The platform and the expertise have to work together
There's a lot of discussion about whether services are becoming the new software.
I think the more interesting shift is how the two come together.
Traditional consulting can produce valuable recommendations, but those recommendations often live in presentations and eventually become outdated.
Traditional enterprise software can create powerful capabilities, but customers are frequently left to figure out how those capabilities change the business.
We think there's a better model.
Start with a consequential business problem. Understand the operating model. Connect the relevant systems and data. Deploy the capabilities required to address it. Measure the results.
Then expand.
Every engagement should create measurable customer value while making the underlying platform stronger and more reusable.
That last point matters. We're not building a collection of bespoke consulting projects. We're building a repeatable enterprise operating platform that becomes more capable through real-world deployment.
Our forward-deployed teams will help customers establish the operating model, activate Dotwork's capabilities and expand adoption as they demonstrate results.
The technology and the expertise reinforce each other.
What this means for our customers
Bringing Arcario into Dotwork allows us to deliver a more complete experience:
- Design the operating model. Connect strategy, investments, business capabilities and execution. Identify where capital and effort are misaligned.
- Activate the enterprise. Connect existing systems, deploy the Dotwork platform and introduce targeted workflows and AI capabilities without requiring wholesale replacement of enterprise technology.
- Continuously steer performance. Connect decisions to actual costs and outcomes, adapt priorities and improve performance as the business changes.
And importantly, we don't believe customers should have to commit to massive, multiyear transformation programs before seeing results.
Start with a meaningful business problem. Deliver value. Prove it. Expand.
For existing Arcario customers, engagements will continue with the same teams, now backed by Dotwork's platform and broader capabilities.
What's next
Our ambition is significant.
We believe enterprises are moving toward a world where humans and AI agents execute together, where business conditions change continuously, and where the traditional boundaries between strategy, finance and execution become increasingly artificial.
That world needs a different kind of operating platform.
One that knows what the enterprise is trying to accomplish, where its resources are going, what work is happening, why decisions were made and whether the intended results are being achieved.
One that helps leaders make better decisions and gives the organization the context to act on them.
One that continuously learns and adapts.
Our mission is to make the enterprise steerable—connecting every decision, every team, every dollar and every agent to what matters, and making it possible to redirect them as conditions change.
Arcario brings extraordinary people and experience to that mission. Together, we're combining a purpose-built AI-native platform with the expertise to put it to work inside the world's most complex organizations.
We're not just helping enterprises manage work.
We're building a better way to run the enterprise.
Welcome, Konstantin and the entire Arcario team.
Let's go build it.
